Presbyterian Women (PW) invites all women to join them in study and mission. Two book circles and two Bible studies meet monthly for learning and fellowship. PW projects include a High Tea each May and a sale of Mother's Day cards which benefits the Networker Project. (Networker pays African crafters to make mosquito nets and then distributes these to mothers and young children to prevent deaths from malaria.)
PW's focus is on support for local and global mission. In March, 2011, they will be collecting personal care items for the Northlands Rescue Mission. This annual collection provides soaps and deodorants, warm socks or gloves, coffee, and other basics for mission residents. Anyone who would like to contribute may bring items to the church throughout the month.

The Mission Trip team has returned from a trip supporting Broad Street Ministry with a new understanding for what it means to live in the heart of the city on the edge of subsistence. They've experienced eating from a food cupboard's shelves, toured the city with a formerly homeless person, worshipped with artists and street people, and survived hot days with no AC. AND they know the joy of serving the community while making new friends.

The AppleFest team works throughout the year to make crafts, jellies, and apple pies to sell at their fall event. AppleFest this year was October 16. Chef Nathan Sheppard turned out great pancakes with apple chutney from 8:00-11:30 that morning. Apple pie ala mode was served from 11:30-2:00. Crafts, jellies, and white elephants were for sale throughout the day.
A new twist to AppleFest was a 5K walk-run starting at 8:00 am that day. The run started and ended at the church. A kids run around the church yard started at 9:30, with a storyteller featured afterward.
The AppleFest team grows to include the whole church on event day, when everyone's help makes light work of this super event.
The Thanksgiving Dinner team welcomes people from the church and the community to dinner at noon each Thanksgiving Day. This year was the 11th serving of the traditional meal. Church cooks provide turkeys, hams, stuffing, potatoes and gravy. Those who attend bring favorite holiday dishes (veggies, salads, desserts) to share.
Helpers are welcome as the team sets tables and carves turkeys on Wednesday. Thursday morning anyone who likes to cook is welcome to help in the kitchen. The tables fill quickly as individuals and families gather about 11:30 with serving starting right at noon.
After the meal (and seconds) some fill to-go boxes for the homebound while others help with dishes and cleanup. Originally planned as a meal for those who would be alone on Thanksgiving, the team finds that multi-generation families enjoy eating at the church, too. Groups from one to more than 20 are welcomed, and church affiliation isn't required.
